How To Lube Your Motorcycle Chain

As a rule of thumb, you should lube or apply lubrication to your motorcycle chains whenever you clean it. Unfortunately, most people would do this the wrong way. First off, buy a proper motorcycle lube. Don't just use grease or other alternatives (like used engine oil) because at high speed, these materials will just be thrown off the chain and dry off or in the case of grease, attract more dirt than whats good for the bike. So please, buy a proper motorcycle lube. These lubricants are designed to stick to your chain, not dry off and not be a dirt and grime magnet.

Tips to Prevent Dehydration During Rides

Motorcycle riding can be dehydrating to our body due to our constant exposure to the sun. Our body loses water through sweating and urinating. Even on cool days we lose body water through evaporation brought about by the wind. If we don't replenish what we lose, then our body becomes dehydrated.

Symptoms of dehydration includes dryness of mouth and tongue, muscle cramps, lack of energy, lack of concern, and decreased concentration and alertness. If left untreated, it can lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke. These symptoms include: fatigue, dizziness, nausea or vomiting, headache, rapid shallow breathing, high temperatures, rapid heart beat, and/or complete loss of consciousness.

Food for Motorcycle Rides

Do you feel tired after a short ride? Do you feel hungry and exhausted again two hours after your meal? Do you experience loss of concentration and alertness during your ride?

If you answer "Yes" to these questions, then your body quickly loses the energy it needs.

This are the symptoms of physical exhaustion. You are risking your safety because your concentration and alertness had declined because of exhaustion. Your brain cannot think fast since its being deprived of much needed nutrients to function sanely.

Here are some nutritional tips that may help maintain your energy levels during a long ride:

Reviving An Old Battery

Motorcycle batteries as we all know have a normal lifespan of 1 year, then after that the battery begins to degrade. Maintaining your batery regularly will extend the life of your battery. (I'm referring to non-maintenance free batterries).

Recently, buddies of ours from Xplorers Philippines - Cagayan De Oro have extended their batteries life span thrice the normall lifespan and here's how they did it with their old batteries:

  1. Drain the old battery of its acid.
  2. Refill the battery with water.
  3. shake the battery then drain the water.
  4. Repeat 2 & 3 until the water drained is clear and clean from sediments.
  5. Refill the battery with a new battery solution (acid) to the required level, then
  6. Recharge the battery.

If you don't have a battery charger, you can connect it to your motorcycle (with a kick start) and use your kick start to start your engine and charge the battery.

As per Noel, the battery is again good as new.

If the life of your old battery can still be extended, this is a cheaper alternative than buying a new battery.

Ang Mahal kong Z200

General News

...

Wag sanang magagalit o kaya'y wag sanang mabibigla,
Sapagkat ako'y naboboring lamang at walang magawa

I, tenk yu... bow..
